Supporters of Israel frequently blame the people of Gaza for electing Hamas. But the Hamas came to power in elections that took place nineteen years ago in 2006, and because of the way elections were structured, Hamas was not even elected by a majority of the Gazans who voted.
Accounting for the fact that nearly half of Gazans alive today were not alive when elections were held, and many of those who were alive were too young to vote in 2006, only about 9.8% of today’s Gazan’s elected Hamas.
And yet 100% of Gazans are suffering from Israel’s war crimes and collective punishment.
